Cardiology: Medical Team
Cardiovascular disease is the leading killer for both men and women in the United States. PAMF’s Cardiology Department team is here to provide patients with comprehensive services for heart health, disease prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. Some of the many conditions our cardiologists treat include chest pain (angina), irregular heart rhythms, high blood pressure, heart failure or heart attacks.
As cardiology is a sub-specialty of internal medicine, PAMF’s cardiologists are board-certified internal medicine physicians and, in addition, have obtained specialized training and practice in one of the many sub-specialties of cardiology.
Some of a cardiologists’ many daily tasks include administering tests that indicate how well a patient’s heart is working, such as a treadmill test (exercise electrocardiogram), and performing procedures such as cardiac catheterization and angioplasty.
PAMF’s Cardiology team includes specialists who offer services including interventional cardiology (the use of mechanical treatment methods such as angioplasty), electrophysiology (treatments involving the heart’s electrical system) and pediatric cardiologists who treat children’s heart conditions.
