You heard it from your mother growing up -- you'll poke your eye out if you're not careful. You survived childhood accidents and so will your child. However, the eyes are a sensitive area of the body and you should always take caution to protect them from objects, infection and injury.

While more obvious symptoms like redness and itching could indicate an eye infection or illness, less noticeable symptoms, including clumsiness, could be a sign of a more serious condition.
