Moving Through Pregnancy

Class Overview:

This three-session class covers a wide variety of topics relating to pregnancy, infant care and safety. Patients are encouraged to take this class as early in their pregnancy as possible in order to take full advantage of the education, support and resources provided by the PAMF and community. Areas of emphasis include:

  • Pregnancy: moving through the trimesters
  • Physical and emotional changes of pregnancy
  • Reducing the physical discomforts: posture, position and exercise
  • Prenatal exercise: what's safe?
  • Fetal development
  • Nutrition for pregnancy: presentation by Karen Ross, M.A., R.D.
  • Community resources
  • The fourth trimester: newborns, behavior and needs
  • Infant care: diapers, dressing, bathing and handling
  • Infant equipment: essentials, safety considerations
  • Purchasing issues and concerns and car seat safety instructions
