About the Center

Good hearing is a precious gift that enhances nearly every aspect of life. Conversely, when one's hearing is compromised, whether at birth or through illness, injury or the natural process of aging, the impact can be far-reaching -- and isolating. With proper diagnosis and treatment, however, the effects of hearing loss can often be minimized, and the joys of life amplified.

The staff of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation's (PAMF) Center for Hearing Health gives individual attention and professional support to those seeking help for hearing loss and related disorders. The Center offers a full range of testing and rehabilitation services for patients of all ages including hearing evaluations, testing for vestibular (balance) problems and tinnitus (ringing in the ears), ear function tests, diagnosis and counseling, hearing rehabilitation with hearing aids and other assistive devices, and hearing health education.

The Center's certified audiologists are state-licensed to practice audiology and dispense hearing aids. Patients diagnosed with conditions requiring medical or surgical treatment are referred to one of three board-certified otolaryngologists (also known as ear nose and throat [ENT] specialists) on staff in the PAMF Department of Ear, Nose and Throat.
