Updated Web Site Offers Parents Health Information
February 2008
Parents looking for tips on keeping their children healthy, such as information about newborn development or advice on talking to a preteen about difficult topics, have a new and improved place to turn for answers: PAMF’s Online Resource for Parents.
The updated health Web site, www.pamf.org/parents, is tailored for the parents of teens, preteens and younger children. Supported in part by a grant from the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, the site features an abundance of information for parents that will help to facilitate discussions with their children about what can sometimes be difficult topics, such as depression, bullying, and alcohol and drugs.
"The updated site is really one-stop shopping for parents looking for medically accurate information," said Nancy Brown, Ph.D., M.A., Ed.S., a senior research associate at PAMF.
The comprehensive site offers parents age-appropriate information, from childhood illnesses and injuries to helping teens make responsible decisions and talking to them about sex.
In addition, the site for parents contains links to the "We’re Talking" Web site for teens, www.pamf.org/teen, and the “We’re Talking, Too!” Web site for preteens, www.pamf.org/preteen. Since launching in 2001 and 2004, respectively, these sites have generated more than 5 million visits from people around the world.
