When a Friend Moves Away
Two years ago, my best friend’s parents decided that it was time for their family to move, because California was just too expensive of a place to live.
So what was I supposed to do about my best friend? I could give up and let her go and never see her again, or let our friendship fade. This might have been some people’s answer, but it was not the option for me. This was my best friend and I had known her for what seemed like forever. We loved each other like sisters and I was not ready to let her go.
So, I started thinking to myself, well we can always visit her and yes, that could work, but driving takes forever and plane flights are not free. Then I thought hey, phones can call out of state and emails can go practically anywhere that has Internet. There is always texting, Facebook and video chats, and actually, the list of ways to communicate with her in another state just goes on and on.
So, if you have a friend that means a lot to you and they have to move away, you do not have to let the friendship whither away and die. It only takes a little creative thinking, support, and nurturing to keep something you love alive!
